River Region Early Education (RREE) is inviting our community to our Annual General Meeting (AGM), and to consider nominating for a position on our Board of Management.

Nominations for Our Board of Management Are Now Open

RREE is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation, and our Board of Management is made up of local volunteers who help guide the organisation's direction. We're currently seeking nominations from community members interested in contributing to the governance of RREE.

We'd particularly love to hear from people with experience or expertise in:

• Finance

• Project management

• Construction

That said, board experience or a background in these areas isn't a requirement - training is provided to all new Board members, and we welcome interest from anyone who cares about early education in our region.

What Does Being on the RREE Board Actually Involve?

If you've considered nominating but aren't sure what the role involves, here's an overview:

RREE is legally structured as a Company Limited by Guarantee, approved to provide early childhood education and care (ECEC) services under Education and Care Services National Law. Our Board is elected by financial members of the organisation and is collectively responsible for:

• Setting RREE's strategic direction and upholding its values

• Ensuring the organisation is performing well, solvent, and meeting its legal, financial, and ethical obligations

• Monitoring compliance, financial performance, and risk management

• Approving budgets, financial statements, and governance policies

• Employing and supporting the General Manager

Board members focus on strategic governance, not day-to-day operations - the day-to-day running of centres is managed by the General Manager and staff. Board members communicate about operational matters through the General Manager, helping keep a clear separation between strategic oversight and daily service delivery.

Support Provided to Board Members

New Board members are not expected to know everything from day one. RREE provides:

• An orientation and induction to the organisation

• A Board of Management Handbook, covering RREE's Constitution, strategic and operational plans, policies and procedures, and an overview of the National Quality Framework and funding

• Opportunities for ongoing professional development relevant to the role
