Our new building will be officially opened on 30 March 2019
Our new building
The need for a purpose-built Child Care building came from the demands of a growing community and a wait list of over 100 children.
Designed by Jacinta O’Brien from Resource Architecture, our new building includes best practice facilities and sustainable design.
We consulted with educators, families and early childhood specialists and researched other centres to create the best possible space for children.
The many features include:
Climate controlled sleep and cot rooms
Large verandahs to allow children to play outdoors in all weather
Quiet room, for breastfeeding parents or quiet conversations with educators
Kitchen and dining area that allows for the preparation of fresh food and gives children the chance to eat and celebrate with their peers
An expanded playground to allow children to learn from their environment (the “third educator”)
Craft rooms accessible from the classrooms, to allow educators to be responsive to children’s interests
Over many years, the Deniliquin Children’s Centre community carefully built and managed $400,000 in reserve funding, which was utilised to create this new purpose-built Child Care building.
We received additional funding from:
NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet $750,000 MDBA Economic Diversification Fund
Edward River Council $500,000 Stronger Communities Grant
Deniliquin Community Group $2,750 Grant
Stage 3 of the project, the refurbishment of the old Child Care building to become the Toy Library and administration offices, will be completed in 2019.
